What are some, not all, of the technologies that are needed in an office today?
Maybe you’re still reeling from the change that the pandemic has brought about in your office, maybe everyone is working from home. There are still some technologies that are needed in an office, corporate, or home based.
The internet is the backbone of any office there are no other technologies so embedded into everything we do email, web surfing, shopping, applications that are based in the cloud, video conferencing. All of these require an internet connection. Without it we are stuck with using the telephone to communicate, oh no!
With that internet connection you need security to make sure that what you are doing stays where you want it. So, some version of cybersecurity is demanded or else that credit card number you used for Amazon or the new product specifications that your team agreed upon may find itself on the internet for anyone to use.
Communication tools are becoming a basic building block of office technology as solutions such as Zoom, Teams or Skype. Without the collaboration /communication tools the Work From Home (WFH) model would not have been achievable. These tools allowed employees and companies to continue to work just remotely.
The last piece that has become essential is the Cloud based platforms. Now these technologies were well on the way for most companies to deliver their software as a service (SaaS), which basically means that you login to a server somewhere that has the application that you need ie, SalesForce, Office 365, Quickbooks, your bank and many other mainstream applications.
Putting just these few tools together allows a person (I don’t like the term User) to work from almost anywhere. These technologies also provide most companies with a level of efficiency that is actually saving a lot of expenses by lowering office requirements. Which also provides getting more from their employees working without the waste of commute time and expense.
