In this case, the gap was caused by the loss of a key team member and was due to, of all things, a resignation. This reshuffle we all hear about certainly can and does contribute to performance gaps. Often, it’s too late to address the possibility of retention, although that would be an optimum remedy. With software release deadlines, losing that key team member can really impact performance. Getting back up to speed requires the right replacement.
